Key Performance AreasProvide technical support to lecturers in the Chemistry laboratory and keep a record of students’ practical sessions; maintain laboratories and safeguard equipment to ensure proper usage and general maintenance; manage and control inventory; prepare and set up practical sessions; provide support to students during laboratory work; organise excursions for Chemistry courses; monitor the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme; set, mark and evaluate students’ laboratory exercises and reports; conduct regular safety inspections and maintain safety documentation; coordinate first-aid training; report software upgrades as required to meet user needs; invigilate during practical sessions and examinations; and perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.Job RequirementsA Bachelor’s Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification, with a minimum of two years’ relevant post-qualification experience in a chemistry laboratory. Strong English communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. Training in ISO standards applicable to chemistry laboratories, supported by a recognised certificate of completion, is required.
