Operations Superintendent (Stevedoring)

- Attend port meetings and book cranes for vessel operations
- Attend daily operations and safety meetings
- Allocate jobs/instructions to subordinates as per stowage of vessels and pre-plan meetings
- Liaise with vessel agent, chief officer and foreman during vessel operations
- Hand in all vessel related documents after each shift
- Attend hand-over meeting with the supervisor of the next shift when required
- Enhance continuous efficiency and improvement.
- Supervise relevant service providers and oversee subcontractors
- Training of SOP’s with all operations employees.
- Maintain hygiene and housekeeping requirements within area of responsibility
- Maintain and enforce adherence to wearing of
- Evacuation routes and equipment remain clear and non- obstructive
- Conduct risk assessment on each job before, during and after
- Report all incidents, hazardous conditions and emergencies immediately
- Complete shift lists before arrival of each vessel
- Matric / Grade 12
- Code 08 Drivers Lisence
- Minimum of 5 years in Stevedoring industry
- Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role
- Break Bulk experience
- Experience with Grab & Hopper and Skip Loading operations
- Experience with project cargo pertaining to heavy lifts
- Qualification in Rigging
- Good organisational skills
- Able to work accurately and timeously
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours
- Good communication skills
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
