Contribute to curriculum development, review, and enhancement, ensuring academic relevance and excellence. Actively participate in departmental administration, governance, and strategic initiatives. Maintain a strong research profile through sustained publication output, seek external research funding, and manage research projects. Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committees to support institutional goals. Mentor junior academic staff in teaching, research, and service. Assist with student selection, admission, and registration processes, ensuring alignment with academic standards. Engage in community outreach and capacity-building initiatives, strengthening the Department’s societal impact. Establish and maintain professional networks and industry partnerships to foster academic and research collaboration and perform any other reasonable responsibilities as assigned by superiors.Job RequirementsA Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with the ability to demonstrate excellence in teaching, research and service. Seven (7) years of lecturing experience at under and post-graduate levels and/or relevant industry experience or an equivalent combination of pertinent professional experience. Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written). Proven competence in curriculum development, management, and mentorship skills, sourcing research or project funding from third-party sources, and managing research projects. Ability to create high-quality course materials and to teach in at least three (3) of the following areas at both under and post-graduate levels: Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Maintenance Engineering, Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Wind and Ocean Engineering, Participatory Mapping and GIS and Energy Efficiency Technology. Experience in developing postgraduate programmes, along with the capacity to assume academic leadership, establish and maintain professional networks. Ability to develop new research initiatives in emerging areas of Mechanical Engineering, such as Renewable Energy Technologies, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Green Hydrogen. Sound research profile with at least ten (10) peer-reviewed journals/books/conference proceedings and successful supervision of at least three (3) Master’s (research) students.
